Event Coverage: That New New

Hello again DODOlogic readers, lets start off with the obvious. I don’t post much, and haven’t been as much as I should. So this year I want to expose more of the Alberta and beyond drifting scene to you all.

HayDay| DMCC Round 2

A great race car driver once said, “If you ain’t first your last”. This time I’m last at posting the images I captured at DMCC Round 2 in Fort Saskatchewan. The event couldn’t have gone any better for me as far as weather goes and the driving was very impressive. But it was definitely a dramatic change in landscape when comparing to the event held in Penticton just weeks beforehand. I was having a hard time finding interesting angles and various locations to shoot that would make the footage interesting to watch and cut, then one of the photographers suggested I utilize the bails of hay that were littered all over the track. Wow how typically Albertan this setup was but it definitely made for one particular shot that I enjoyed. All in all this weekend was a huge success for the media and drivers! I hope you enjoy.

Video: DMCC West Round 2

Man, wouldn’t it be great if this was a video from Sunday’s event?  It isn’t, but it is from the DMCC event that took place in Edmonton a few weeks ago.  I would have liked to have finished it sooner but between this and  the Formula D: Seattle video, I’ve been pretty busy.  Enough with the chit-chat, here’s some of the sites and sounds from DMCC.

DMCC: Round 2 out West

Well, happy long weekend everyone. If you were somehow unaware yesterday was Round 2 of DMCC West. So as usual we packed up the car and hit the road.  This was my first time at Stratotech in Fort Saskatchewan and don’t let the name fool you it is no where near Saskatchewan.  None the less is it was an eventful day.

Drift: All roads lead to drift

So as today’s post is the last of my pics from Spec D. As I type this I am sitting in a truck on my way to Penticton. What makes this trip even more interesting is we are towing a 1991 Mazda Miata. It isn’t every day you see such a manly car being towed and I am sure you can imagine the types of looks we get. However, these are stories for another day. So from one road trip to the last, here we go. I would write more but I don’t know how to scroll down on the iPad.

Spec D: Where There is Smoke There is Tires

As I had mentioned yesterday, this was my first visit to Castrol Raceway. With so many different places to stand you could never be in all the right places to really capture the action.

Spec D: Castrol Raceway Starting Lane

When some of us think of Edmonton, our thoughts immediately go to its giant mall, its zoo, or the hip shopping district that is Whyte Ave. But car enthusiasts know there’s something equally exciting just around the bend: Spec D. Usually Spec D events are left to Tony K., but since I happened to be in the neighborhood, I decided to join him for a drift practice at Castrol Raceway.

Event: DMCC Round II

So this video is the first that I came accross for DMCC Round 2. Looks like it was a pretty good time. Now let us all pretend that we can always be everywhere we want to see everything we want to see.
