There’s been a lot of talk about “drift racing” in the local media, so I thought I would wait for that to cool down before I wrote my article about the drifting that went down in Regina on April 28. I will leave the “drift racing” to the media big wigs who actually get to cash a cheque for their coverage.

“Sir, get back in your vehicle!” The U.S. Border Patrol Officer scowled at me, and I scurried back to my car and frantically seated myself. The motor that powers my passenger window died last year and my car is right-hand drive, and since I didn’t have Ryan Benoit to assist me this year, I was a ‘one-camera band.’ After being scolded, I was allowed to carry on through scot-free. So I hightailed it out of there with the biggest grin on my face — probably because I felt like I was inches away from being detained. Welcome to America, indeed.

I was on my way to Monroe, Washington: home to Evergreen Speedway, the track that sees regular amateur drift events and of course, holds one of the rounds of the Formula Drift series.

It was raining; this is the Pacific Northwest so it’s often raining. I was feeling optimistic about how the day was going to go. But when I arrived at the track I met up with a fellow media friend, Wes Barber, who came down from B.C.’s interior to take photos. It was good to be around ‘car friends’ once again, and regardless of the rain I knew it was going to be a great day.

I won’t dive into the nitty, gritty details; now it’s your turn to investigate what went on. I hope you get a feel for what it was like to be there and remember, this video was made possible by good ol’ fashioned American freedom.

Here’s a fun fact: Don’t put a Pedo Bear decal on your window. An Border Official had never questioned me about that decal until that day, so maybe the time has finally come to take it down.

We have been getting a lot requests to post up all of the photos we have from The Pumpkin Smash Bash. I have pretty much run out of words to share with you about this event but we still have plenty of photos. So, I will do something very un-DODOlogic like and just share a bunch of pictures. Enjoy!

This past Saturday a few Saskatchewan drifters got together at Kings Park Speedway and put on a little drift event. Drivers from all over Saskatchewan and few from Alberta spent the day battling the cold and drifting the oval.

Sunday, July 22nd was open track day at Kings Park Speedway. Drifting is almost non-existent in Saskatchewan, so any track time in a safe and controlled environment is always welcome! Three of five cars that were drifting  on Sunday were from Saskatoon. The guys made the day trip down just to shred some rubber and show their support for the local scene.

I hope to see more of these days around, I wouldn’t mind trying to learn on this track.

A few weeks ago Taylor Scion in Regina gave us the opportunity to test drive the new Scion FRS. We were more than excited and while we were out, ended up doing a photo shoot and review which you can find here: http://www.dodo-logic.ca/?p=11358 .What we didn’t show you was the small drift session that took place afterwards, because after all – we did hear that this car was pretty good at it.
