Hello People. Welcome to the Rundown, something that hasn’t seen the internet in quite some time now. I will try and get back on the weekly schedule here for everyone but until I am done this shift work at my real life work I won’t make any guarantees. Well let’s get this show on the road. Lots of interesting things to touch on today.
There is nothing like waking up on a Monday Morning realizing that it is Monday and then realizing you haven’t started your ‘Monday Morning Rundown’ post yet. So I apologize in advance for being short with you this morning. It is going to be one of those posts with very little salad and a lot of the ‘meat and potatoes’.
A great race car driver once said, “If you ain’t first your last”. This time I’m last at posting the images I captured at DMCC Round 2 in Fort Saskatchewan. The event couldn’t have gone any better for me as far as weather goes and the driving was very impressive. But it was definitely a dramatic change in landscape when comparing to the event held in Penticton just weeks beforehand. I was having a hard time finding interesting angles and various locations to shoot that would make the footage interesting to watch and cut, then one of the photographers suggested I utilize the bails of hay that were littered all over the track. Wow how typically Albertan this setup was but it definitely made for one particular shot that I enjoyed. All in all this weekend was a huge success for the media and drivers! I hope you enjoy.
As always, it is a pretty awesome sight seeing cars tear apart a track while sliding sideways. I can easily say it’s my favorite thing to take pictures of! Holding down your shutter for a series of shots only fractions of a second apart, you pan with a car and hope every shot comes out crisp and clear. Easier said then done though, only a fraction of the shots you take turn out the way you want them to. Who wants to see a blurry picture? No one does.
Race City, Calgary. Round 2 in my DMCC books couldn’t have turned out any better. Freakishly hot days – unlike last years round 3. It was a nice change, although sunburn and de-hydration were 2 things to look out for. I had a blast snapping some pictures of some pretty cool cars.
Man, wouldn’t it be great if this was a video from Sunday’s event? It isn’t, but it is from the DMCC event that took place in Edmonton a few weeks ago. I would have liked to have finished it sooner but between this and the Formula D: Seattle video, I’ve been pretty busy. Enough with the chit-chat, here’s some of the sites and sounds from DMCC.
*Note: For some reason the video runs long but I promise it actually ends with Devin.
