Lately it seems as though our city has no problem pumping out cars that the internet loves. This 240sx vert owned by Aidan Wagner was a social media hit just hours after it was put together, thanks to a lot of patience and research, Aidan’s car turned out to be more than perfect.
You see, what you may notice sculpting the body of this s13 is a TRA KYOTO 6666 Customs GT Rodeo Special aero kit (quite the mouthful, right?), but more commonly know as “Rocket Bunny”, which is certainly a must-see in person. As I talked with Aidan over the winter one thing was clear – she needed to have this kit, so after 4 months of waiting and a few snags, she finally had her dream come true.
The first choice she had to make was whether to stay pop-up front end or convert to an S13 Silvia front end before ordering her kit. She opted to stick with the pop-ups and that turned out to be a great choice. As far as I know, this convertible is 1 of 2 in North America with the GT rodeo kit and pop-up headlights – the other being a demo car.
During winter, my old TE37′s found their way to Aidan and they turned out to be a great fit. Stance GR+ PRO coilovers help the rare-sized 17×9 0 offset with a 215/45 tire fill out the front, and 17×9.5+12 with 225/45′s tuck in the rears, bolted on with teal RAYS lugnuts to match. So her second decision that had to be made was whether or not to order the TRA KYOTO fender flares to accompany the rest of the aero. Aidan had already acquired her favorite wheels and wasn’t fond of the idea of running massive wheel spacers to fill out the massive 40mm front and 60mm flares, or toss the wheels in favor of something overly aggressive. Instead, a pair of Origin type 2 fenders blend seamlessly into the bodywork. Its amazing how far a little creative thinking goes.
The best thing about this car, is that there is “so little” and “so much” going on all at the same time. Everything works together to create what you see here. The Origin half-clear tail lights clean the back end up, which is topped off with TRA KYOTO’s duck bill spoiler, which Aidan chose to rivet on. That small detail ended up giving it a slight touch of aggressiveness that it needed. Tucked in nicely- as if it was made for the rear bumper, is her Agency Power burnt titanium exhaust. Overkill? Maybe, worth it? Totally. Though still available to purchase from Agency Power, only a handful of s13 owners use this exhaust system due to the price tag it carries - but as you can tell this car has no corners cut.
You may notice the lack of intercooler up front. This is because when Aidan purchased the car, it was an unmolested chassis. She became the 3rd owner after an older lady, who took great care of the vehicle. With no room for down-time and the stock KA24DE being very healthy, there was no need to immediately swap the motor. Her intent is to complete an SR20 swap over winter, she has already acquired the SR20 motor(a gift from yours truly) and she plans to tear it down and freshen it up with a few upgrades, again without cutting corners. She has already purchased a Tomei Arms M7960 turbo, Cometic headgasket, and ARP head studs. Soon this car will be as fast as it looks. Oh, did I mention that she not only works on her own car, but she daily drives it too. Scary thought isn’t it? Only a couple inches separate this bumper and a would-be broken heart.
So given the fact that a woman drives this vehicle with the parts mentioned, it’s still safe to say: this car is still more rare than a shiny 1st edition Charizard.
