Event: Drift West Round 2

It’s a very rare experience to sleep in my own bed the day before a Pro Drift event. Usually I have to get in a car or plane and travel a few hours. This past weekend Regina played host to DriftWest’s Round 2 Pro Competition and it was as if the world I adore so much had finally showed up at my doorstep, like the morning paper

Event : Winnipeg’s 4th Annual Drift Demo

While our neighbors to the west were enjoying DriftWest Round 2 in Regina this past weekend, I was in Winnipeg in a church parking lot. That’s right, it’s that time of the year when Chris Gonzalez travels a few blocks from his home to put on a show for the citizens of Winnipeg.

Event: Driftwest Round 1 – The Rookies

Before I say anything, I’ll say sorry for taking so long with this post. Between building my car and work, I hadn’t been able to get to these photos. Today I was feeling under the weather and called in sick to work, which finally freed up time time to edit pictures (and watch eight episodes of Breaking Bad). But I digress… Three weeks ago we were at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway for Round 1 of the DriftWest series, and here are my selected photos from the day.

Event: Driftwest Round 1 Pro Practice

As I sit here writing this article, the clock is reading 5:10 AM. Since I got off work about two hours ago, I’m deciding to not focus so much on writing but showing. In all honesty, there isn’t a whole lot to say about this pro practice for DriftWest Round 1 other than it was an absolute blast to shoot. Wall taps and crashes paired with lots of sunny weather equalled great times for this guy. I also got to put my new lens through its paces shooting at 1/20th — something I’ve never been able to do! Anyways, before my overtired mind wanders too far astray, here are just a fraction of the pictures I shot.

Event: Driftwest Round 1 Part II

How many DODO contributors does it take to cover a DriftWest event? I don’t have the answer, but we do have a whole lot of photos to go through. If you missed Scott’s Round 1 rundown, you can check it out here.

Event: Driftwest Round 1 Pro Competition.

Lets talk DriftWest! Round 1 of the series was held at Castrol Raceway near Edmonton this past weekend. We’ve decided to post in segments so we don’t inundate with pictures and information. To keep you from waiting too long, here’s my take on the pros battling it out for podium positions.

Event: Drift West Spring Matsuri 2013 – Part I

There’s been a lot of talk about “drift racing” in the local media, so I thought I would wait for that to cool down before I wrote my article about the drifting that went down in Regina on April 28. I will leave the “drift racing” to the media big wigs who actually get to cash a cheque for their coverage.
